FertAg 0-8-0 a hit with Victorian rural distributor

November 2016

Victorian biological fertiliser distributor Graeme Joyce of Alternative Growing Solutions has witnessed first hand a movement among farmers towards FertAg 0-8-0.
Graeme says he has distributed FertAg 0-8-0 for 12 months, with really great feedback from farmers.

“We have sold FertAg for use on pasture, crops, golf courses, orchards, vegetable farms and cut-flower production farms,” Graeme says.
“Farmers say FertAg creates a better quality pasture plus higher volumes, so they are getting a better return. We generally move between 12 to 15 tons of FertAg a month,” he said.

“The main reason we incorporated FertAg 0-8-0 into our business was to provide traditional farmers, who may have limited knowledge of biological products and how they are utilised in the soil, with a means of shifting to biological fertilisers,” Graeme explained. “Using FertAg 0-8-0 is like a half-step towards using environmentally friendly fertilisers which improve soil biology and achieve a better crop result,” he said.

Graeme says FertAg offers a sustainable source of key nutrients over short-lived single super or lime. It contains 24% calcium, 10% magnesium, 11% silicon and 8% phosphate. The product acts as a soil amending agent as well as a fertiliser, providing phosphate, which is 95% available, and calcium silicates to sweeten pastures and improve cation exchange capacity (CEC).

The product is produced by a natural, non-chemical process. It is environmentally friendly and is not soluble in water, but is easily digested in acid soils. FertAg 0-8-0 is compatible in the utilisation of biological products.

“FertAg will last longer in the paddock than single super, which washes out after 3 to 4 months. FertAg is still there after 18 months,” he said.
